Exploring Routes- Day 4 (S2)

Today we woke up early and went for a chilly morning dip to wake up before breakfast and heading to the mountain. When we got to the trailhead, we again looked on the map at the trails we were planning to take and started hiking!

We hiked into a cloud as we went up, which made the trail a little bit wet so the hike required some extra carefulness and focus. The campers did an incredible job and we slowly made our way up the technical sections of the trail. Everyone passed messages along the line about where to put hands and feet and what to pay attention to.

When we got to an especially rocky passage, the group worked together to pass our bags through tight spots and make our way through. Although the view at the top was hidden by clouds, the campers still enjoyed the lake and took a quick dip in the water to cool off before making our way down. They were very happy with their trail choice for today! It was a challenging, beautiful, and very rewarding day of hiking.

Once we got back to the cottage we cleaned up and put on cozy clothes and then ate burritos followed by pie and ice cream. We finished the night with a shout out and gratefulness circle and it was so special to listen to all that they had to share - a LOT to say tonight! We then drank some tasty warm milk (cinnamon vanilla lattes) and read Nancy Drew.

The campers really stepped up to the challenge of the day and made it such a fun final hike of the week (they unanimously voted on not doing a hike tomorrow). They were very proud of themselves for what they accomplished today, and this whole week, and expressed how grateful they were to the counselors for trusting in them. We were SO proud of them too!!
