Otyokwa - Day 3

Our third day together started with made-to-order breakfast sandwiches and time to tidy up our cabins. We then learned how to play the game Set and tested our concentration skills with a few rounds. Due to some wild wind and heavy rain, we settled into a cozy morning indoors. Our big activity of the day was making plaster masks which took a lot of trust in our partners but turned out awesome. We slathered vaseline all over our faces and molded pieces of plaster to form to our faces.  Next we made friendship bracelets before eating a lunch of grilled cheese and tomato soup.

After lunch we had quiet time in our cabins and then headed up the hill to the mess hall for some laughter yoga. We got out some energy and then painted our masks and made our own herbal tea bags. We learned about all the different herbs and then selected the ones we wanted for our unique tea blends.

Once the rain cleared, we took a quick dip in the lake and showered before free time. We have been taking turns everyday for who helps with dinner, so while some campers had free time, others helped prep cookies for our ice cream sandwich dessert. We also  used free time to put on some fun outfits for our last evening together…some were silly, some were formal, and all of them had glitter.

After a dinner of burritos with almost a million different filling options, we gave out paper plate awards (a camper initiated idea) and did some journaling. Campers had the opportunity to share out from their journaling and we heard some great life lessons. We then we did our final nightly shoutout circle and got ready for bed.

The time before bed brought hair braiding, bracelet making, and a lot of laughs before hitting the pillow in preparation for our last day. Today was filled with many camp jokes from our time together and super sweet compliments for each other. We’re excited but sad for our last day tomorrow!
