Our Commitment

We believe camp should feel like a place where children are truly seen, known, and valued. A place where they can show up as themselves, try new things, build confidence, and feel a deep sense of belonging. Our community is rooted in care, respect, and the belief that every child deserves to feel safe and supported.

A Community Built on Love and Belonging

Growing Routes is intentionally small. This allows us to create a warm, family-like environment where relationships matter and no one gets lost in the crowd. Campers are not rushed, compared, or expected to fit into a mold. Instead, they are encouraged to grow at their own pace, explore their interests, and connect with others in meaningful ways.

We actively cultivate a culture of kindness, empathy, and mutual respect – because feeling loved and accepted is foundational to confidence.

Who We Welcome

Growing Routes prides itself on creating a safe and inclusive environment. We are committed to creating an environment where children can freely express themselves without fear of discrimination related to ability, race, ethnicity, religion, national origin, gender identity, or gender expression. Every camper deserves to feel respected, safe, and affirmed in who they are.

Our staff are trained to celebrate differences, approach every interaction with care and love, and ensure that every child feels supported, valued, and understood.

We welcome girls and gender-expansive youth in our summer camp programs.

Safety as the Foundation for Confidence

Emotional safety is just as important to us as physical safety. Campers thrive when they feel secure enough to take risks, speak up, try something new, or ask for help.

By keeping groups small and relationships strong, we’re able to give individual attention to each child, respond to their needs, and support them through moments of growth – whether that’s navigating friendships, finding their voice, or building self-trust.

Confidence at Growing Routes grows from being accepted first.

Equity in Practice

We recognize that children come to camp with different experiences, needs, and identities. Equity means meeting campers where they are and providing the personalized support they need to participate fully in camp life.

This shows up in how we structure our days, how we support social dynamics, how we communicate with families, and how we make decisions as a community. We are always learning, listening, and reflecting. We view inclusion as an ongoing practice that we are constantly striving towards.

Partnering with Families

We know that trust matters. We welcome open conversations with families and are always happy to answer questions, talk through concerns, or explore whether Growing Routes is the right fit for your child.

Our goal is to ensure every camper has the opportunity to grow in confidence, creativity, and compassion, and to leave feeling more connected and at home in themselves than when they arrived.
