Why Camp Chloë?
Our Philosophy
At Camp Chloë, camp is more than just a place—it’s a way of being. In our intentionally small, family-like community, campers feel known, supported, and free to be themselves.
We celebrate the magic in small everyday moments: a goofy game sparked by a broken badminton racket, laughing with friends over our purple teeth dyed by the blueberry pie, the pride of harvesting fresh food for dinner, or the quiet of sharing a hammock with a friend during free time. Our days balance adventure with rest, structure with freedom, and tradition with play—creating a space where campers feel empowered to explore and grow.
Some of the best memories from camp are the small ones that spontaneously happen during the breath between activities. Sure, scavenger hunts, tie-dying, lake swims, and s’mores are highlights—but it’s often the tiny, unplanned moments that linger: the silly word game while washing hands for snack, the walk back to the cabin under a full moon with a new friend, the cartwheels while waiting for our sunscreen to dry. These moments remind us to slow down and be present—they are not just “in-between.”
Campers help shape their experience. Instead of following a rigid schedule, they are part of a collaborative environment where their ideas guide the day. Maybe someone suggests a sunset swim, wants to bake bread with herbs from the garden, or notices the raspberries are ripe and inspires a spontaneous “raspberry festival.” After an adventurous day, a quiet morning might unfold, led by a camper’s idea for a group art project under the apple trees.
It’s not about having a thousand choices. It’s about having a voice—and the confidence to use it. It’s about being free enough to dream, and supported enough to bring those dreams to life. We trust kids with responsibility, invite their voices in shaping camp life, and cultivate a rhythm that nurtures confidence, creativity, and compassion. In this environment, campers slow down, connect deeply—with each other, with the land, and with themselves—and carry those lessons long after summer ends.
What Campers Gain
Camp is more than activities—it’s a place where campers explore their independence and grow as thoughtful, resilient, and compassionate human beings in ways that extend far beyond the classroom.
