Age Cutoff & Session Placement
At Growing Routes, our small group size is one of the things that makes the experience feel grounded, personal, and supportive. Because we work with such small groups, we are especially intentional about how campers are grouped together — developmentally, socially, and emotionally.
Campers are generally expected to fall within the listed age range for a session (for example: 8–10, 10–12, 11–13, or 12–14) by the start of that session.
That said, we understand that kids don’t grow on a fixed timeline. If a camper is within two months of an age cutoff, we’re open to considering an exception on a case-by-case basis.
When reviewing age exceptions, we may take into account:
Whether a sibling or close family member is enrolled in the same session
A camper’s previous experience at Growing Routes
Social, emotional, and developmental readiness
The overall balance and dynamics of the group
Because our groups are small, age exceptions aren’t guaranteed. Our goal is always to create a safe, supportive, and comfortable experience—for each camper and for the group as a whole.
If you’re unsure which session is the best fit, we encourage you to reach out. We’re always happy to talk it through with you. Email: info@growingroutes.org
